Regional Insurance Provider (Small Business, 500 Employees)

Unified Insights Team Charter

Overview

A regional insurance provider engaged Codeview Digital to design a unified observability and insights capability that would consolidate fragmented monitoring teams and lay the foundation for AI-driven operations. Despite having substantial monitoring data across infrastructure, application, and business layers, the organization lacked the team structure, governance, and tooling strategy to extract actionable intelligence from it.

The Challenge

The insurer's monitoring capabilities had evolved in silos, with no unified strategy or team structure to connect operational data to business outcomes:

  • 3 separate teams managing infrastructure, application, and business monitoring independently with no coordination or shared practices
  • No AI or ML capabilities despite having sufficient data volume and variety to support predictive analytics
  • Inability to connect IT performance metrics to policy processing SLAs, leaving business impact of incidents unmeasured
  • Manual root cause analysis processes taking 8+ hours per incident, delaying resolution and increasing customer impact
  • No governance framework for AI initiatives, creating compliance and ethical risk concerns for the insurance sector
  • Fragmented tooling preventing correlation across infrastructure, application, and business transaction layers

The Solution

Hybrid Team Structure

Designed a hybrid operating model combining internal leadership with managed services, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths for a Unified Insights team spanning infrastructure, application, and business monitoring.

Data Unification Strategy

Developed a data consolidation approach to break down silos between the three monitoring domains, enabling cross-layer correlation and creating the unified data foundation required for AI/ML capabilities.

AIOps Implementation Roadmap

Created a 3-phase AIOps roadmap progressing from data unification through anomaly detection to predictive incident detection, with clear success criteria and go/no-go gates at each phase.

Golden Insights Dashboard Suite

Specified a dashboard suite connecting IT performance metrics directly to policy processing SLAs and business outcomes, giving leadership visibility into how operational events affect the business.

AI Ethics & Compliance Framework

Delivered an Ethics and Compliance Review Pack tailored to insurance sector requirements, establishing governance guardrails for responsible AI adoption across all planned AIOps initiatives.

Team Charter & Governance

Produced a complete Unified Insights Team Charter defining organizational structure, capability maturity targets, budget allocation guidance, and the governance framework for ongoing operations.
